PRACTICE / FIELD NOTES

A routine you can trust

Build repeatable preparation before the bell.

Confidence is easier to access when you have something familiar to return to. A pre-ride routine is a simple sequence of thoughts and actions that helps you shift from the noise around you to the work ahead.

It does not need to be elaborate. You might check your breathing, name one intention, visualize the first few moments of your ride, and settle on a phrase that keeps you connected to your horse. The best routine is one you can actually use on an ordinary Tuesday, not just at a championship.

Practice before you need it

Try your routine in lessons and at home. Notice which steps genuinely help and which feel like extra work. Adjust it with your trainer as you learn. When show day comes, the routine will be familiar because it belongs to your everyday riding.

A routine cannot guarantee a result. It can give you a steadier starting point and a practical way to reset when the unexpected happens.
